Elizabeth Gaskell: An Annotated Bibliography
of English Language Sources, 1992-2001
Shortly after the publication of my second annotated Gaskell bibliography, I realized that it would be useful if Gaskell scholars had timely access to a comprehensive listing of sources published after 2001. I decided that it could easily be accomplished by posting annual supplements on a web page. Originally I thought in terms of having a separate page on the Gaskell Web site developed by Mitsuharu Matsuoka but as the project evolved, I made the decision to post them on my faculty Web page with a link from the Gaskell Web. With my retirement from Bloomsburg University looming, I realized I needed to find a new venue for this initiative. I finally also decided that I was making the process unnecessarily complex for myself by having separate supplements for each year. Accordingly, with this update, I have merged the annual supplements into a single list.
It should be noted that these are bibliographic supplements only
(no annotations) and that sources included conform to the original criteria established for inclusion in my two annotated bibliographies. If the title does not clearly state the work(s) discussed, I provide that information parenthetically. It is important to remember that there is a time lag between publication and indexing. Even in this day of computer indexing, that time lag can be as long as three years. Furthermore, some forms of publication (individual book chapters of books with a single author, most commonly) are indexed nowhere and learning about their existence is a time-consuming project. This supplement will be updated semi-annually and updates will be announced on the appropriate list-serves (Gaskell and Victoria) as well as a mailing to subscribers to my web site newsletter. If you are aware of anything which I have not yet included, do not hesitate to contact me with the bibliographic information using the contact form
for this web site.
